Faced with the avalanche of despicable and unrelenting boot-licking propaganda from the John Birch Society (JBS) and its local disciples, you might believe that cops were not 53 times more deadly to Americans than terrorism. You might believe that 960 Americans had not already been slaughtered by the American Gestapo in 2016. You might even believe that being a cop was an unusually dangerous job. You might believe these things... but you would be incorrect on all counts.
The truth is that those who carry guns to enforce the will of the state are the sworn enemies of all free people. Contrary to the incessant fear mongering from the JBS about keeping your oppressors local, it really makes no difference if they are employed by the UN, a national government, a subnational government, a county, a city, a special district, or whatever other division or subdivision of the state may supply their weapons and costumes and sign their paychecks. By taking up arms on behalf of the state, an individual chooses to put themselves at war with the people over whom they illegitimately presume to exercise authority. There is no such thing as a good state enforcer. It is a logical impossibility.
Sadly, we regularly see those who pay lip service to liberty and freedom abandoning the victims of the state in order to rush to the aid and defense of the vilest goons in the state's employ. This is not just wrongheaded, it is counterproductive in the extreme. Those who choose to defend the state and its enforcers are doing an irreparable disservice to the cause of liberty, and they would be better off to stay silent than to utter even one more syllable to advance their cause of mankind's destruction through compliance with the shock troops of tyranny.
As Robert Higgs has succinctly explained, "There are no good cops." If I were to make an addition to his pronouncement, it would be that there are likewise no good cop defenders.
